I am a versatile musician with diverse keyboard skills. I love singing and playing the piano. I studied music at Southampton University with a particular emphasis on composition. As a diploma level pianist (dipABRSM) and experienced singer, my varied musical abilities have led to a broad and rewarding musical career.

Pianist work

I work as a creative dance pianist for the Royal Opera House on both the ‘Chance to Dance’ and ‘Ballet Dots’ programmes. I improvise music and play ballet repertoire for young people, many unaccustomed to a dance studio. My ability to compose music on the spot is vital, as are excellent sight-reading skills. I love the creative nature of this work, supporting dance teachers to create engaging and memorable classes. I go to diverse and interesting places and meet many inspiring people. I enjoy the unpredictable nature of this work – there is never a dull moment - and my heart is warmed when I see the effect of music and dance on the young people we work with. It’s life changing, for some.

Songwriting

I began writing songs at the age of 13. Since then, my life story has been told in my songs and this creative outlet has brought profound meaning to my life. I have produced several albums, notably ‘My Garden’ in 2012 and ‘Stonewaller’ in 2016 and ‘All you can see is sky’ in 2019. I record my music at home in the Kent countryside with my engineer husband who runs our studio.

Musical direction

As a pianist and singer I am well suited to musical direction and have worked on many shows including ‘The Lion King’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Into the Woods’ and most recently ‘Chitty chitty bang bang’. I teach songs, create musical soundscapes, write parts for musicians and lead various music groups.

Community work

I am privileged to play the piano for Compass Community choir in Cranbrook, supporting musical director, Ginger Millington. It is a highly rewarding and fun experience each week, witnessing people coming together through singing, and gaining confidence. Compass was started in January 2019 after a drive by a local GP to improve wellbeing in the area and the choir is going from strength to strength.

Apart from my musical and family life I enjoy Ashtanga yoga, cooking, travelling and mountain biking.
